A "Metal Gear Solid" fan gets a "Phantom Pain"-like prosthetic arm, according to Eurogamer.net.

The "Metal Gear Solid" game franchise has a lot of fans in the world. With the new iteration of the game franchise, which is "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," many fans were happy that the game franchise has finally come to an end. Hideo Kojima, the creator of the franchise, has officially stated that this will be his last "Metal Gear Solid" game creation.

Konami, the game publisher of "Metal Gear Solid," is assisting to make a prosthetic limb for a double amputee fan. Sophie De Oliveira Barata, a prosthetic artist, and a group of engineers, roboticists and product designers from Konami are working together for the project. The amputee who will have the prosthetic arm is James Young, 25 years old, according to Gamespot.

Young lost an arm and a leg in 2012 when he was dragged onto the tracks between two carriages of the London DLR. He has had a hard time playing his favorite games and has been a huge challenge for him, according to Slash Gear. He taught himself to play games with one hand only.

The project for helping this amputee gamer and creating a prosthetic limb is titled "The Phantom Limb." Barata on the other hand has her own title for her prosthetic limb projects which is called the "Alternative Limb Project." Her project is different from the other prosthetic projects known today because she works with amputees on unique designs.

In addition, the projects Barata has created so far were Steampunk designed arms and cyborg designed legs. She also created the popular "crystal leg" which was worn by performer Viktoria Modesta.

There will be a documentary for the development of this unique prosthetic limb for the "Metal Gear Solid" fan. It will be posted in a series on a blog, according to sources.
