'Legends of Tomorrow' May Be Losing a Lead Cast Member
"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" season 3 may be the final regular season for one of the show's main cast members. An unconfirmed report has identified someone in the series who appears to be headed out the door. Spoilers (potentially) follow in this article.
Deadline breaks the story, which is based on insider chatter rather than an official named source. But an important detail from the Deadline article makes a good case for the departure of the main cast member.
The "Legends of Tomorrow" series regular who is said to be leaving the cast is Victor Garber, who plays Prof. Martin Stein on the show. So far, there is no official word about this from either The CW network or the producing studio Warner Bros. TV.
Rumors of Garber's possible exit grew more frenzied in summer. Then the news came in early September that Garber would be going back to Broadway. The veteran musical theater actor has been tapped to star alongside Bernadette Peters in the Tony-winning revival of "Hello, Dolly!" Entertainment Weekly notes that Garber and Peters will be replacing David Hyde Pierce and Bette Midler in the musical. They will be appearing on the Broadway show starting on January 20.
Due to the nature of Broadway musical productions, Garber's involvement would likely mean a heavy schedule of rehearsals and performances for the actor. It's hard to imagine him simultaneously working on a primetime network show, which has its own demanding schedule. That would be a lot to ask for, especially given the distance between New York and Vancouver, where "Legends of Tomorrow" is shot.
However, if Garber does exit the series, it could be a temporary departure. It's certainly possible for the show to simply sideline his character for a time until Garber is able to return. In any case, Garber will remain in the lead cast of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 3.
