The death of the Playboy magazine creator burst into the media for weeks now. Hugh Hefner one of the Hollywood giants has passed away and many have mourned for his death. Following his death, reports show that Jared Leto will be playing his life in a new biopic.
The Playboy Magazine creator had hit the media with his sad death. The entertainment industry mourned the ending of Hugh Hefner. He was found at his home in the Playboy Mansion located at Holmby Hills of Los Angeles. At the age of 91, the Playboy Enterprises announced his death.
The chief creative officer of Playboy Enterprises' who is also the son of Hugh Hefner, Cooper Hefner said that "My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights, and sexual freedom. He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history," according to Deadline.
As follows, the honorable role for the new biopic will be played by Jared Leto. He will be putting on Hugh Hefner's famous trademark, the red bathrobe. The project will be directed by Brett Ratner, according to Hollywood Reporter.
In an interview, Ratner told the site that, "Jared is an old friend. When he heard I got the rights to Hefner's story, he told me, 'I want to play him. I want to understand him.' And I really believe Jared can do it. He's one of the great actors of today."
Originally, the project is in the early development in 2007 under Ratner's Ratpac Entertainment. The plan was to have Robert Downey Jr. who will be playing the role as Hugh Hefner. Also, it was supposed to be under the Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.
