Extraterrestrial Life: Senior Astronomer Claims That They Will Be Able To Prove The Existence Of Intelligent Life; 2 more decades
As many would know scientist are curious of the unknown life dwelling the outer space. Thus, the undying search for the Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence is again on its way. As a senior astronomer at the SETI believes that human is just decade's say from confirming the existence of intelligent Alien life form.
The Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence Institute has already spent decades on exploring and researching the mysterious phenomena of the universe. The lasting hope still remains that the search will help the scientists confirm that in fact, there is a life out there. Thus, Seth Shostak who is the senior astronomer at the SETI Institute was interviewed by the Futurism at the World's Fair Nano NY.
In the interview, the scientists discussed their status in searching for extraterrestrial life. Shostak stated that "bet everybody a cup of coffee that we'll find intelligent life within 20 years." He was then asked if what does science has to say about the current existence of aliens he answered that "Very little - because we haven't found any." He explained that scientist may not have found evidence to confirm the intelligent life, but what they have discovered about the Universe over the last 20 years has been insignificant.
In line, the findings that Shostak said that it might mean a lot in their research. He added that one thing that they know now that they did not know decades ago is that there is a lot of unexplored cosmic real estate out there. Thus, he is confident that not eventually but relatively soon they will be able to find the extraterrestrial life. However, he stated that making contact might not be quite as easy as many would imagine. It is not the same as they typical movies that humans are able to contact with Aliens, according to Science Alert.
As follows, Shostak clarified that "I don't know about contact. I mean if they're 500 light years away ... you'll hear a signal that'll be 500 years old, and if you broadcast back Hi we're the Earthlings, how're you doing? It'll be 1,000 years before you hear back from them. If you ever hear back from them. So, it does not exactly contact, but at least you know they're there."
