Sherlock Season 5

After the rather confusing and explosive fourth season, will "Sherlock" Season 5 still happen on the BBC? Months after the genius detective and his blogger best friend once again saved London, the network is yet to reveal whether there will be another season of the mystery drama.

With the increasing popularity of stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, many are doubly worried that they have seen the last adventures of Sherlock and John. Unfortunately, the fate of the popular and critically-acclaimed series is still unsure right now.

Cumberbatch sat down with Radio Times recently in order to promote his new project "The Child in Time." Obviously, the topic of "Sherlock" Season 5 was brought up, but the movie actor was not in the mood to divulge what the future has in store for the series.

When the publication asked whether he has had any discussions about new episodes of "Sherlock," the 41-year-old responded: "Maybe." The next couple of months are going to be hectic for the father of two so the BBC crime series is probably not on his mind right now. Later this year, he will reprise the role of Doctor Strange in "Thor: Ragnarok" and, after that, he will once again save the multiverse in "Avengers: Infinity War." Moreover, he has a lot of movies lined up like "The Current Wars" which will also star fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero Tom Holland.

In addition, Cumberbatch is trying to balance his responsibilities as one of the most sought-after movie stars in the world and a father to his two children with wife Sophie Hunter. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph (via Carter Matt), the actor admitted that he is quite relieved to not be Sherlock right now.

"It's great playing a man who drinks cups of tea, has normal conversations, daydreams, doodles on a pad and isn't talking at a million miles per hour or firing energy out of his hands," he shared. "The Child in Time" aired in the U.K. on Sept. 24.
