Rain to Release First Album in 3 Years This December
Rain Company announced that Korean singer Rain will be releasing a mini album in early December. The yet-untitled project will be the first album from Rain in more than three years.
The company's press statement was sparse on album details, but it did offer some clues about what fans may expect. "The title track is a hip-hop piece that emphasizes his manly side," said Rain Company, translates Yonhap News. The song is going to feature a more intense vocal performance by Rain compared to his past singles "How to Avoid the Sun," "I'm Coming" and "It's Raining," added the agency.
Last month, Rain Company had told fans to expect Rain to drop a new mini album in November and said that he was still working on it, though he had finished recording one track. The new announcement confirms Rain's upcoming comeback, just with a change in the release schedule.
While Rain did drop a digital single "The Best Present" on January 15 this year, he has not come out with an album since "Rain Effect" was released in January 2014. That means the December album will come out three years and 11 months from the release of "Rain Effect."
Rain has apparently been enjoying newlywed life. The singer got married to actress Kim Tae Hee in January. He also took on an acting role in the upcoming film "Uhm Bok Dong."
Soompi reports that Rain Company has also confirmed that the "Ninja Assassin" star would have a stint as a mentor on the upcoming KBS idol rebooting show "The Unit." It is an audition program that will create a unit group out of former and current idols revealing underexposed talents. Rain has agreed to take part in the show as an adviser to the participating idols. "The Unit" is scheduled to begin airing on October 28.
