The Blacklist Season 5

Elizabeth "Liz" Keen's (Megan Boone) connection to notorious criminal mastermind, Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader), has always been one of the central mysteries in the crime drama, "The Blacklist." However, the revelation that he is her father will cause more problems rather than solutions. According to executive producer Job Bokenkamp, the relationship between the FBI agent and the criminal consultant will create tension within the FBI Task Force.

Four seasons ago, Red stepped into the FBI and demanded to speak only to Liz. Since then, there have been quite a number of theories about the criminal mastermind's fascination with the federal agent. In the previous season finale, the series has finally confirmed what everyone has suspected all along: Red is Liz's real father.

Of course, "The Blacklist" fans should not expect this revelation to be the solution to all their problems. Quite the contrary because Bokenkamp seems to hint that the relationship between the two would create more issues.

"Cooper [Larry Hennix], first and foremost, is going to be saddled with what to do with that [information]," the EP told EW. "He is now faced with, 'What do I tell the higher ups and what happens to the Task Force?' Cooper is a pretty above-the-board guy so it is going to be something that all of them are going to have to deal with."

Moreover, the two-hour fourth season finale also hinted that a secret could tear Liz and Red apart. Tom (Ryan Eggold) has returned and he has come in possession of a brief case that seems to hold an importance to Red. Inside it was skeletal human remains.

How this mystery is going to affect Liz's relationship with her father, Red, remains to be seen. The new season of "The Blacklist" will premiere on Sept. 27 on NBC.
