Renowned movie director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is not daunted by the video game curse. While many before him have failed, he promises that his big screen adaptation of Hideo Kojima's "Metal Gear Solid" is going to be, in his own words, "craziest, punk rock, rock, and roll."

Despite the recent failures of movies such as "Assassin's Creed" and "World of Warcraft," Roberts is very excited about his adaptation of the action-adventure video game. In a new interview, he gave fans an update regarding the movie's script. Here is what he said to Screen Rant:

"Right now what we're trying to write is the craziest, punk rock, Kojima, rock, and roll, like 'holy s*** they're going to try to make that movie that does this in that many time periods?!'" He adds, "Like it's special. Whether we can execute on that script, whether we can get it made, who knows."

Not many details are available about the project, but Roberts seems to know exactly what he wants to see from a "Metal Gear Solid" movie. Moreover, the filmmaker is a massive fan of the original video game and knows the franchise by heart.

At San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, he recounted to IGN the story of how he nabbed the coveted project. The first time his idea was rejected by the studio.

However, in Hollywood, persistence pays off. After he was told that a "Metal Gear Solid" movie would not happen, Roberts spent the next three months crafting a bible to prove his expertise of the material.

He also has an idea as to why video games movies failed to achieve critical and commercial success. Sony eventually hired him to direct the adaptation.

As of this writing, Sony still has not announced the "Metal Gear Solid" movie premiere date. In the mean time, the next video game in the franchise, "Metal Gear Survive," will be released later this year.
