BIG BANG's Seungri Bags Silver, Bronze Medals At Professional Jiu Jitsu Tournament
While his fellow BIG BANG members are receiving gold and platinum awards for their solo comebacks, BIG BANG maknae Seungri is earning medals of a different color. The youngest BIG BANG recently bagged medals at a professional jiu jitsu competition in New York.
According to Soompi, BIG BANG's Seungri shared his recent achievement through an Instagram post showing him holding up a silver and a bronze medal post-competition. Seungri was competing to achieve a purple belt in jiu jitsu.
Being known to be competitive and driven, Seungri said he felt happy over his accomplishment but it was obvious in his post that he wished he could have won the top prize. "One silver medal. One bronze medal. I feel regret, but I'm okay because I did my best," he said as he thanked his coaches and supporters.
FT Island's Choi Jong Hoon, a good friend of Seungri also congratulated the BIG BANG member for his achievement. His post showed the two artists together wearing a gi with logos that show them being on the same team.
It can be recalled that prior to the competition, Seungri was training full time in Osaka showing how serious he was with achieving his goal. Seungri is already a black belter in Taekwondo before he took an interest in jiu jitsu which he initially engaged in to stay in shape.
Even "IP Man" himself, Donnie Yen was impressed by Seungri and said that the BIG BANG member surprised him by speaking fluent Mandarin and his martial arts skills. Yen posted a snap of them having lunch with his thumbs up, Koreaboo reported.
His teammates in his training camp were also impressed by Seungri's talent and dedication to the sport. Jiu Jitsu blackbelter Metheus Diniz also wished him well for the competition and expressed faith that he will do well. Because of Sungri's natural friendliness, a lot of his teammates also became instant supporters of BIG BANG while he was training.
