Song Joong KI's fans have been waiting a long time for his drama comeback after the widely successful "Descendants of the Sun" where he starred opposite is now fiancé Song Hye Kyo. It seems that Song Joong Ki's comeback could come via Netflix's zombie drama "Kingdom."

According to a report by Koreaboo, Song Joong Ki is currently in talks to take the lead role in Netflix's period zombie drama which is set to premiere next year. "Kingdom" is one of the two upcoming Korean dramas ordered by the streaming giant along with "Love Alarm," an adaptation of a webtoon.

The offer was announced by Song Joong Ki's agency Blossom Entertainment but it stopped at confirming whether the actor will take the role. "Song Joong Ki has been offered a role in "Kingdom" but he has not made a decision to appear. It is simply one of many pieces that have been offered, he is looking over it but he is not ready to make a decision yet."

An earlier report by The Hollywood Reporter indicated that "Kingdom," the second Korean series to be co-developed by Netflix will take place in the Joseon era where a prince, the role offered to Song Joong Ki, will be tasked to investigate a mysterious outbreak. The series will be written by "Signal" writer Kim Eun Hee while the drama will be directed by "Tunnel" director Kim Seong-hun.

However, with the recent announcement that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will get married on October 31, the filming schedule may play a part in the actor's decision making. While "Kingdom" is considered a major project and could bring Song Joong Ki's work to the attention of the streaming giant's over 100 million worldwide subscribers, he is also expected to focus on the promotion of his current film "Battleship Island" and give his attention to the wedding preparations.
