G-Dragon's Extreme Weight Loss Causes Alarm, Fans Blame Punishing Tour Schedule, Other Issues For BIG BANG Leader's Poor Health
Netizens have expressed shock and worry at G-Dragon's drastic weight loss after the BIGBANG leader attended a recent event for Chanel. G-Dragon is one of the fashion brand's global ambassadors.
According to a report by Digital Music News, VIPs, BIG BANG's official fandom, and G-Dragon's fans are shocked by how thin the K-pop superstar looked at the event. Some have suggested that his schedule may have taken a toll on G-Dragon while others suggested that it may be another issue altogether.
It can be recalled that several months ago while attending Bajowoo's exhibit, former 2NE1 leader CL already observed that G-Dragon's weight loss while he was hard at work on his album. In a Twitter post with the two YG artists together, she said that she wants G-Dragon to gain back his weight. Fans who attended his events in recent months have also observed that the BIG BANG leader was growing thinner.
While many fans rallied G-Dragon to take care of himself and eat well to regain his healthy physique, there are those who speculate that the idol may be suffering from anorexia. The suggestion did not quite take off with many fans on social media but there were also those who believed that the star's hectic schedule, as well as recent issues and controversies, have taken a toll on him.
Aside from working day and night to complete filming for music videos, rehearse and oversee his solo comeback "Kwon Ji Yong" in the past weeks, G-Dragon also went through psychological and emotional turmoil with recent controversies leading up and after his comeback. It can be recalled that a week before the release of "Kwon Ji Yong," BIGBANG rapper T.O.P. who was very close with G-Dragon was involved in a marijuana case which led to his dismissal as a conscripted police officer for his mandatory enlistment.
T.O.P was also hospitalized in critical condition for almost a week as the rapper overdosed on anti-anxiety medicine that he believed to have taken to deal with his issues. Upon the release of G-Dragon's "Kwon Ji Yong" in an innovative USB form, Gaon Chart announced that it will not include its album sales in its tally as it is not considered an album. Gaon Chart explained that "Kwon Ji Yong" is not an album because unlike a typical album, it doesn't contain the songs in the USB but links in which users can download the songs with a special key.
"The most important thing isn't the external packaging or the attractive design, but the music, which can be listened to by anyone, anywhere, where my voice has been recorded: my songs," G-Dragon posted in a very personal message via Instagram. G-Dragon wrote and produced all of the songs and lyrics to his eponymous comeback album so it came as no surprise to his fans that he would take the decision personally, Kpopstarz reported.
