G-Dragon, IU, BTS, TWICE Are Voted Today's Best Artists By Entertainment CEOs In South Korea

G-Dragon And IU Performing 'Palette'

One cannot deny that the world of Korean pop music has entered a new era as young talented artists make their way into stardom. South Korea’s entertainment industry is well known for its tight competition and only the best gets to be on top. Just recently, chief executive officers from various entertainment companies have gathered to pick out today’s best artists.

Sports Seoul recently held a special survey they call “The Power People of K-Pop” to commemorate their 32nd anniversary. They gathered 32 representatives from various entertainment agencies in South Korea and it included ones from big shot companies like JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment. These agencies are well-known for their popular artists who are topping charts nowadays. The selected representatives have been tasked to pick out the best in the current line-up of talents in the entertainment industry.

BIGBANG leader G-Dragon has been voted Best Male Solo Artist. G-Dragon recently kicked off his comeback with the release of his self-titled album, “Kwon Ji Yong” and it has topped music charts in South Korea and overseas as well. Meanwhile, IU has been picked the Best Female Solo Artist, proving that she is still a force to reckon with. IU boasts of great vocals and has starred in several television series alongside veteran actors. Coincidentally, IU recently released a catchy song titled “Palette” that features G-Dragon.

BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, was voted Best K-Pop Boy Group by the selected representatives. The said boy group has recently become a global icon for their music and fashion. EXO follows in second place while veteran idol group, BIGBANG comes in third. SEVENTEEN takes the fourth place and surprisingly WANNA ONE takes the fifth place even though they have yet to officially make their debut in August.

TWICE is voted as for today’s Best K-Pop Girl Group as they continue to conquer charts and charm fans with back to back successful promotions. G-Friend takes second place, Black Pink follows at third, and another veteran group, Girl’s Generation is at fourth place. Red Velvet takes the fifth spot. Aside from the artists mentioned, the representatives have also selected Lee Soo Man of SM Entertainment as the most influential person in Korean pop music. Meanwhile, BTS’s producer, Bang Si Hyuk has been voted the best K-pop producer.
