Chinese Premiere Li Keqiang Stops By South Korea's Tech Center in Gyeonggi, Hopes to Bolster Seoul and Beijing's Cooperation In Terms of Innovation and Technology

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang wrapped up his three-day visit to South Korea by checking out the country's innovation center in Gyeonggi-do Province where he expressed his desire to strengthen technological cooperation between Seoul and Beijing.

Korea JoongAng reported Tuesday Chinese Premier Li Keqiang toured the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CCEI) in Pangyo that is run by KT, South Korea's second-largest telecommunications carrier.

The Gyeonggi Center is just one of the 18 CCEIs in South Korea, forming one of the pillars of South Korean President Park Geun Hye's top policy agenda.

Since it's opening in April, the tech center in Gyeonggi has become a venue for multiple start-up events such as the "Demo Days", where programmers and developers present their ideas to investors for funding.

At the center, KT Chairman Hwang Chang Gyu presented to Li Gyeonggi Center's incubation programs for start-ups.

According to Hwang, the CCEI supports the entire process of building to marketing its start-ups. The CCEI is involved from research and development to creating a business plan for the start-up, and eventually putting it on the market.

Chinese Premiere Li, who is the catalyst behind of China's economic policies, showed great interest in South Korea's information and communications technology scene, and hopes that South Korea and China can enter the Internet of Things (IoT) market together.

This marks Premiere Li Keqiang's first official visit to South Korea. The three-day trip was conducted to promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Aside from cooperation in terms of innovation and technology, Premiere Li also reportedly aims for the early implementation of the China-South Korea free trade agreement, which was signed in June this year, Xinhuanet noted Sunday.

Premiere Li reportedly said during his visit, "I'm glad Korea and China have had meaningful talks through this visit, and we will now work together for a prosperous future through joint efforts and cooperation."
