SMTOWN Special Stage Hints At Girls' Generation Comeback Plans; 'I Got A Boy' Re-Enters Hanteo Charts
SM Entertainment has already revealed the plans they have set for their artists this year. Just recently, the said South Korean agency released their lineup for the upcoming SM Town Special Stage In Hong Kong concert, hinting at Girls’ Generation’s awaited comeback. The girl group’s four-year-old album “I Got A Boy” also ranked on Hanteo charts once again.
It has just been announced that a handful of SM Entertainment artists are heading to Hong Kong to perform at a special event. E-Sports & Music Festival is an organized event combining Korean pop entertainment with popular gaming. The said event, which will also hold a “League of Legends” tournament, is set to take place on Aug. 5 at the Central Harbourfront Event Space.
SM Entertainment has signed on Super Junior members Yesung, Eunhyuk, and Lee Donghae to perform at the said event. Along with them, the roster of performing artists for SMTOWN Special Stage in Hong Kong includes SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT Dream, NCT 127, and f(x) member Luna. It has been revealed that aside from their popular hits, they will also be showcasing collaboration stages.
Girls’ Generation is noticeably not part of the lineup and fans are quick to assume that this is because of their upcoming comeback and the group has probably planned an event at that time. This year’s comeback has been hailed as the girl group’s comeback of the decade since they will be celebrating their 10th anniversary on Aug. 5. There have been posts circulating among fans that Girls’ Generation, also fondly known as SNSD, recently met up with SM Entertainment’s big shots, Lee Soo Man and Kim Young Min, fueling hopes that the anniversary comeback will be huge.
Girls’ Generation may have been lying low from group activities for a while but their individual projects have also been keeping them busy. In fact, SM Entertainment recently reprinted a number of Kim Taeyeon’s version of the “I Got A Boy” album. Because of this, the said album suddenly ranked third on the Hanteo real-time chart on June 13. The “I Got A Boy” reprinted albums were reportedly released in Taiwan and South Korea and many fans flocked to buy copies, proving that Girls Generation is still the national girl group.
