Kim Chungha Feels Lonely Performing Solo Without I.O.I
On June 7, former I.O.I member Kim Chungha held a debut showcase as a solo artist. The showcase for her debut mini album 'Hands On Me' was broadcast live on Naver V Live. During the showcase, Kim Chungha opened up about the good and bad things about debuting solo, saying it's quite lonely not being in a group.
The solo singer first opened her act with a performance of her debut single 'Why Don't You Know', which dropped on June 7. Kim Chungha, later on, talked about feelings on debuting solo and couldn't help but mention her former project group, I.O.I. She said, "It's been 4 months since I.O.I disbanded and I am standing in front of everyone as a solo artist."
While Kim Chungha expressed that she misses being in I.O.I, she also provided the good things about being a solo artist. According to her, "Well as a solo artist I am able to focus on presenting my own songs and performances. Also, I get to take naps often." She then reiterated her previous statement about her fear of appearing on variety shows alone. "It can be awkward to appear in variety shows alone, not to mention being lonely. I hope to perform in a group someday if given the opportunity."
Kim Chungha further revealed her thoughts about pursuing a solo career after the disbandment of I.O.I, saying, "I'm happy but there are times when I'm scared. Since I'm alone, I feel a lot of responsibility. I was half-excited, half-frightened. I prepared for this album for four months and released an OST and a pre-release track in that time." The I.O.I alumni also expressed her gratefulness for 'Produce 101', saying, "I wouldn't have existed without 'Produce 101.' I don't think I would have been able to debut this quickly. I'm a solo artist now, but much later I think I will be able to debut as a girl group again too. 'Produce 101' was like my savior."
