Microsoft Surface Pro Release Date, News & Update: Redesign In & Out Offers Better Features, Specs Than New iPad Pro?
Microsoft Surface Pro was unveiled during a media event held in Shanghai. Most of the important details about the new device were finally revealed.
Microsoft Surface Pro Details Reveal Impressive Upgrades
Microsoft Surface Pro is the successor to the popular Surface Pro 4. The new two-in-one device apparently drops the numbering from its brand name. Meantime, while the details seem to indicate no significant changes, the upcoming laptop-tablet is expected to have an impressive upgrade.
The new Microsoft Surface Pro has reportedly been redesigned from the inside-out to provide users with 50 percent additional battery life compared to Microsoft Surface Pro 4. In fact, based on the tech giant's internal video playback test, the new Surface Pro was able to last 13 and a half hours. According to reports, this battery life bump may be due to the seventh generation Intel Core chipset, which currently powers the device, making it entirely fanless for a little quieter performance.
Microsoft Surface Pro has also been refined as evidence in the softer edges and the cameras that blend seamlessly with the display. Meantime, the device is also much lighter, weighing in at only 0.77 kilograms and 8.5mm thin. Also, its stunning 12.3-inch PixelSense touch screen display is making a comeback to support the Surface Dial for on-and-off screen actions, Express reported.
Microsoft Surface Pro Is The New iPad Pro 12.9 Competitor
The new Microsoft Surface Pro has the same size and functions with Apple's iPad Pro 12.9. Given that, both devices are now pitted against each other.
Microsoft Surface Pro features a new hinge system on the kickstand to allow its Surface Studio mode, which means laying flat and working directly with the new Surface Pen. It is also considered as the lightest Surface Pro with its 0.77kgs.
On the other hand, the iPad Pro 12.9 measures 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9mm and weighs in at 713g, which makes it lighter than the Microsoft Surface Pro. It boasts of a Smart Connector on the left portion that powers more accessories like the iPad Pro keyboard for those who want a laptop-tablet style, Pocket reported.
