Eliminated ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ Contestant Joo Won Tak Reveals Good & Bad Things About The Show

Former 'Produce 101 Season 2' contestant Joo Won Tak recently talked to a Korean media outlet to discuss his experience on the show before getting eliminated. The 2ABLE Company trainee initially ranked at the 92nd place but climbed up to the 62nd place before being eliminated from the top 60. Joo Won Tak said that he feels regret not because he couldn't be in the top 11 but because he wasn't able to prove his vocal abilities. He said, "Of course I feel regretful. It's not that I couldn't make it to the Top 11, but I'm more regretful that I wasn't able to show people my vocals through the position evaluations."

His fan cam of his previous 'Mansae' performance garnered attention and views, but Joo Won Tak failed to get proper screen time during the broadcast of 'Produce 101 Season 2'. With so many trainees on the show, it's difficult to get equal air time for everyone. He stated, "Maybe there would have been more potential if the 'Mansae' video had come earlier." He continued, "Although I didn't appear much on the show, my rank went up a lot in a few days so I was happy. I had no expectations but suddenly I was in the 60s. I got my hopes up but didn't make it in the end."

Joo Won Tak shared that during his stint on 'Produce 101 Season 2', his parents even made a banner to show their support for him. "My heart hurt (seeing that)," he shared. "I thought I have to work harder, but right after that was the third week of broadcast. My rank had dropped (from 83) to 94. I was watching it with my parents and they were disappointed. It was really hard to see my family so sad."

He further talked about being a trainee and what his experience was like in 'Produce 101 Season 2', saying, "I was okay with not having a cell phone, and they gave us enough to eat so I wasn't worried about that. But it was really hard not being able to sleep. Since it was a competition, the trainees would often give up sleep for more practice."

But Joo Won Tak was also quick to say good things about the show, saying that because of his stay on 'Produce 101 Season 2', he was able to learn a lot of things. According to him, "We only have two or three days to prepare for a performance. I think that as I prepare for things like debuts and concerts, this kind of experience will be a lot of help. I'm also happy that I've gained some fans along the way."
