'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Spoilers: Cersei Fights Unsullied, Dragons, Whitewalkers To Keep Iron Throne; First Lesbian Couple Teased
To say that excitement is mounting for the upcoming "Game of Thrones" Season 7 would be an understatement. The full trailer for the penultimate installment in the hit HBO series has just been released and it has already been viewed 61 million times within a span of 24 hours.
According to a report by Deadline, the 61 million views of "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is a composite figure from various viewing platforms like Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. This is by far the highest viewing record for a trailer within a 24 hour period.
HBO's "Game of Thrones" has consistently generated a record number of views for its trailers, teasers, and promos. It can be recalled that "Game of Thrones'" "Long Walk to the Throne" teaser featuring the prime contenders to the Iron Throne Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, has been viewed 67.6 million times since it was uploaded in March. It surpassed the record previously held by "Game of Thrones" Season 6 trailer which had a record of 63.5 million lifetime views.
Fans of "Game of Thrones" were obviously looking for clues about what will transpire in the upcoming "Game of Thrones" Season 7. After all, this will be the first time that even fans of the series' source material "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga by George RR Martin will have no idea about what to expect since final two books of the saga have not yet been released. Based on the first look, Cersei will be sieged from all corners by enemies who want the Iron Throne for themselves, Buzzfeed reported.
In the "Game of Thrones" Season 7 trailer, when Cersei mentions the East, the shot cuts to a scene showing Grey Worm with his army of Unsullied along with the Dothrakis under Daenerys' command. When Cersei talks about the West, an ominous looking fleet believed to be led by Euron Greyjoy from the Iron Islands is seen approaching. However, unlike Cersei's sworn enemies, there is a hope that Euron will be looking to join forces with her instead of opposing her. From the North, the threat of the Starks looms but more than that, what lies beyond is far more dangerous as the Night King commands his army of Whitewalkers.
