Chinese drone-maker DJI (Da-Jiang Innovations) has recently unveiled their latest offering - the DJI Spark. The company's most compact aerial camera to date promises to be feature heavy as it tries to enter the mainstream drone market.

The new DJI Spark is making quite a buzz among camera buffs as the new drone boasts a minute frame that is about the size of an iPhone 7. Such size will definitely make its predecessor - the DJI Mavic - an utterly huge piece of flying hardware, TechCrunch reported.

Prior to its release, fans and drone critics were already given the heads up early on thanks to leaked photos and videos that made rounds online. However, the features of the DJI Spark were quite difficult to come by back then.

Per the publication, the new DJI Spark will have a hand gesture control feature alongside other control modes such as the conventional RC, its smartphone app, and through its DJI Goggles. The gesture control mode allows the user to navigate the drone using hand movements and can even take off and land the device on their palm.

While on its RC mode, the DJI Spark can go as far as 2 kilometers. However, the controller does not sport a display feature, unlike its Mavic predecessor, according to Endgadget. Fans need not fret though as the drone has a built-in front obstacle avoidance sensors that enable it to dodge obstructions during flight.

Its camera feature will boast a 12-megapixel shooter albeit the current 4K trend. Moreover, the DJI Spark boasts a so-called Gimbal Stabilization that takes away the shake when taking a shot. A couple of cool features to look out for are the Tapfly for users who are newbies in flying drones, and the shallow depth of field photo effect dubbed as ShallowFocus.

The DJI Spark is currently on pre-order and has a price tag of $499. Check out a couple of videos about the new drone here:
