HTC One M9 News: 2015 Flagship Gets Android 7.0 Nougat Update, Enhanced Features; 2017 Flagship HTC U11 Releasing Soon!
HTC One M9 has been scheduled to receive an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat. With the latest reports suggesting that AT&T is looking at delivering the promised update, it seems that the owners of the 2015 flagship may soon get the OS update.
HTC One M9 Update Comes With Enhanced Features
The HTC One M9 users may find that the update does not seem to be live yet when they go to Settings to manually download it. But since AT&T has already updated its page for the handset to show the Nougat update, it is expected to be available as an OTA soon. Once an OTA, the HTC One M9 users could look forward to quick app switching, bundled notifications and two apps open simultaneously among others.
However, the HTC One M9 security patch level will only be limited up to February, which means those who are after the security features may be disappointed. Meantime, the Nougat update weighs in at only under 1.4GB and it would be best to download the update via WiFi.
Meanwhile, the sharp edges and lackluster camera of HTC One M9 are believed to be what hindered the device from becoming one of the better phones when it was launched. Nonetheless, the handset remains a good choice, AndroidAuthority reported.
HTC Is Set To Release New Flagship Phone
HTC U11 is the company's new high-powered flagship phone this year that is expected to feature the new design direction, which was introduced earlier with HTC U Play and the U Ultra. It is worth noting that the 2016 HTC 10 was a powerful device that featured QHD screen, a sculpted metal chassis, and an impressive audio performance. Interestingly, the new HTC brand has built on that, adding in a U yet bringing some interesting feature - the sides of the phone can be squeezed, TechRadar reported.
