Cha Joo Hyuk Of Co-Ed School Faces Drug Related Charges Yet Again
Cha Joo Hyuk, formerly known as Kang Ho of the now-defunct Co-Ed School, was recently caught drunk driving. The news comes days after he was charged with drug use and possession.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office announced on May 10 that they will file drunk driving charges on top of Cha Joo Hyuk's pending drug-related charges. The police stated that the former idol was found driving while intoxicated on Oct. 30, 2016, Soompi reports.
When apprehended by the police, it was found out that Cha Joo Hyuk's blood alcohol concentration was at 0.112 percent. The limit in South Korea is only 0.05, resulting in the cancellation of his driver's license. Cha Joo Hyuk hit three pedestrians during the incident, one of which suffered a collarbone fracture while the two others obtain cervical sprain.
Cha Joo Hyuk is currently facing multiple drug charges, particularly the use and possession of marijuana and ecstasy. According to the prosecution, the singer-actor purchased a total of 28 grams of marijuana and 0.3 grams of ecstasy in April 2016, Koreaboo reports. He was also allegedly found with three marijuana plants transferred to his car sometime between April and August 2016.
His drug-related activities, however, not only take place in South Korea but in other countries as well. He was reportedly caught smuggling ketamine at the Vancouver International Airport in 2016. In July 2016, he was accused of purchasing six ecstasy tablets and seven marijuana joints in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Previous drug tests also confirmed that Cha Joo Hyuk had consumed ecstasy, marijuana, and ketamine.
Cha Joo Hyuk debuted with the idol group Co-Ed School. At the time, he was promoting under the stage name Kang Ho. He left Co-Ed School after he was swept in a sex crime scandal. Photos of him visiting an adult entertainment facility as a minor surfaced on the internet. He took up the name Cha Joo Hyuk when he started to pursue a career in acting.
