According to "Designated Survivor" Season 1, Episode 20 spoilers, Agent Wells is getting closer to the mystery as she uncovers the next target of the conspiracy. Meanwhile, the first international summit of President Tom Kirkman is likely to be derailed. An explosive article by journalist Abe Leonard poses a major threat to President Kirkman's first summit. Meanwhile, Virginia Madsen, who plays Kimble Hookstraten, spoke with TV Guide about "Designated Survivor" Season 1, Episode 19 and what will happen next. Hookstraten was grilled by the ethics committee for her trip to Turkey and providing military aid to the country. The committee was hell bent to vote against her but she stepped down from her post.

But, Hookstraten stepping down was part of a plan. Later, she was appointed as the Secretary of Education, after she got an arts grant renewal passed in exchange of her stepping down.
