South Korea Election News Hints At Disestablishing Chaebol Control Including Samsung Empire
Recent South Korea election news hints at the end of chaebol economical control as new political dawn approaches. The country hopes to recover its economy following the recent scandal between Samsung heir Lee Jae-Yong and former President Park Geun-Hye.
While some believe that overthrowing chaebol control could be the answer to fixing the economy, government officials believe that doing so is a lot harder than it sounds. According to NewYorkTimes, large businesses like Samsung still hold a considerable amount of political power. Even if various South Korea election news speak about change in the country, removing political power from chaebol wouldn't be possible in such a short span of time.
"Every culture has a strong legacy, inertia. It takes time.", political economy professor Rhyu Sang-Young added. Samsung's recent setback might have stirred the nest of powerful conglomerates, but it won't be enough to bring them down. After all, the chaebol have been running the country for generations so they would eventually find ways of maintaining political control.
Despite the negative connotation of recent South Korea election news, some remain optimistic about the country's outcome. Finance professor Kim Woochan even believes that the political control of the chaebol "could end with this generation."
The conclusion of the South Korea election could give the Korean citizens some reprieve from the country's political unrest. This brings the issue of South Korea's next governing leader, a position that is being sought after by contrasting candidates.
According to Bloomberg, the South Korea election is being dominated by tensions stemming from North Korea as well as the U.S President Donald Trump. Candidate Hong Joon-Pyo aims to cooperate with the U.S by having them bring nuclear weapons to the country.
On the other hand, candidate Moon Jae-In hopes to loosen the ties between North Korea and the U.S. The North Korea election news source revealed that Hong himself believes that Moon could bring about the end of the alliance between North Korea and America. Needless to say, the country certainly has their hands full when it comes to re-stabilizing their government.
