HTC U Release Date, Specs & Updates: Upcoming Smartphone Can Beat Samsung Galaxy S8
Expected for a release this May, the HTC U, also known as the HTC U 11, may be a potential rival to the Samsung Galaxy S8 because of similarities in performance ratings. Aside from this, the HTC U will be equipped with never before seen features from other smartphones that would make it more attractive to consumers.
The HTC U will come with "Edge Sensors" that users can use or activate by performing gestures to create a specific task. These will be located at the metallic edges of the smartphone.
Aside from this feature, the HTC U's specification was leaked on a benchmark site listing that revealed its performance ratings, Gadgets 360 reported. Listed as HTC CBP, GeekBench displayed single-core and multicore test results of the device, rating 1912 for the single-core, and 6137 for the multi-core.
These figures are similar and even better than the ratings for the Samsung Galaxy S8. Samsung's current flagship scored 1916 in the single-core and 6011 for the multi-core tests. Meanwhile, its larger version, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ rated at 1928 and 6084 in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.
Aside from its similarity in performance ratings with the Galaxy S8, the HTC U will also be equipped with the same processor the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are using. The Snapdragon 835 SoC is rumored to be installed in the upcoming HTC flagship.
One more possible thing to appear in the HTC U is the rear glass panel similar to the Galaxy S7 and LG G6. According to WCCFTech, HTC may be needing to align with this design technology in order to keep abreast with its competitors.
In case all of these appears in the HTC U, the Galaxy S8 may truly have a rival in it. For more information about the HTC U, check out the video below.
