‘Pokémon Sun & Moon’ Latest News & Update: Game Sold Out 15.44 Million Units Worldwide In The First Quarter Of The Year
The "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game sold out 15.44 Million units worldwide during the period. According to the Nintendo's president, Tatsumi Kimishima, not only the game title that benefits the sale, but also the 2DS and 3DS gaming system as well.
For fiscal year 2017, due to the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game high sale, the Nintendo reported 7.27 million 3DS systems had shipped, up approximately 500,000 units year-over-year. As the company noted, the lifetime sales of 3DS systems stand at 66.12 million units.
Shortly after "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game was released last year, according to the Game Rant's report, the financial data revealed that the 2DS and 3DS games had already become blockbusters, so the news of titles moving even more units should really come as no surprise. In fact, several months ago, the releases had already been touted as the best-selling games of 2016 for some retail stores, especially the Amazon.
The 2DS and 3DS game systems were released in 2013 and 2011, respectively. Almost seven years since the latter system become available on the market. Some reports also cited that after the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" was released, the system sales suddenly increased.
Also, Tatsumi Kimishima explained that the popularity of the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" was bolstered by Niantic's "Pokémon GO," as the mobile game upsurge in popularity and helped increase awareness of the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS titles. Unfortunately, the mobile game experiencing an opposite fate, 80% of the total daily users dropped and thus continuously decreasing even now.
Speaking of "Pokémon Go," a man in Russia who arrested in 2016 by playing the mobile game inside the church may spend three and a half years in prison after his trial wrapped last week. According to Kotaku, he violates the country's laws against inciting religious hatred.
