‘Carpool Karaoke’ Apple Music Launch Delayed

The 'Late Late Show with James Corden' sketch 'Carpool Karaoke' was supposed to launch its own separate series on Apple Music, but is now being put on pause. A premiere party that was scheduled last March was postponed days before it was to take place and yesterday, the spin-off launch party was cancelled as well.

Apple said in a statement to Reuters that the premiere of its first ever original series 'Carpool Karaoke' is being postponed to an unspecified, much later date this year from its original April release. The company didn't explain further why the postponement was made.

Host James Corden even told a panel of reporters last January that we was "incredibly proud" that will be a part of Apple's first music series. Apple Music has been offering music streaming service exclusively to Apple subscribers but expressed interest in adding original video content, likely to rival against Netflix and Amazon.

Aside from 'Carpool Karaoke', Apple is investing on another original video series called "Planet of the Apps". Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook says, "In terms of original content, we have put our toe in the water doing some original content for Apple Music, and that will be rolling out through the year. We are learning from that, and we'll go from there,"

'Carpool Karaoke' is a recurring remote of the late night show that has featured A-list celebrities and artists to sing and be candid in a car ride with host James Corden. The sketch garners millions of views and goes viral as soon as it is released online.

The series was slated to feature a different pair of celebrities each episode including big names such as John Legend and Alicia Keys singing to their own tracks. Hence the title, 'Carpool Karaoke'. It has been given 16 episodes, each episode airing for half an hour. However, after Apple Music released their statement, it is now unknown what will happen to the show or when it will ever be launched.
