Towards the end of "Better Call Saul" Season 3, Episode 2, Mike Ehrmantraut learns that he is checkmated. Show creators Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what fans can expect from the upcoming episodes. The show creators are asked about Mike and what will happen with him in "Better Call Saul" Season 3, Episode 3.

"Of course, at the very end of the episode, Mike finds out he's been checkmated, and then we'll wait for episode 3 to find out what that means - because Mike discovers that gas cap with the tracker in it, and this drop phone in the middle of the road. So he has a choice at that point. He knows he's been made, he could turn around and he could try to disappear again, but he has to stay," Gould said. Gilligan added that they should forgive him if it is a chess match as Mike played brilliantly. Mike is up against a master player and he should be given credit for putting up a fight. It will be interesting to see what happens with Mike in the new installment.
