K-pop hitmaker PSY is prepping up to make a comeback this May. The “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman” singer is set to release his new album together with two music videos next month.

In a report by Soompi, PSY initially made plans to unveil his new album this April, including an announcement to push through with a concert in the Philippines. However, YG Entertainment recently announced the change that the K-pop star will release the new album in May instead. There have also been conflicts in schedules given that PSY has been filming two videos that will come out at the same time as the new album.

The upcoming release from PSY is his eighth album; the K-pop star’s last album, titled “Chiljip Psy-da”, had been a commercial success. “Gangnam Style” propelled PSY to stardom all over the world; the music video for this catchy single raked in over a billion views on YouTube, specifically 2.8 billion views. It had been the first video on the platform to cross the one-billion-view milestone. PSY’s next single “Gentleman” also crossed the one-billion mark on YouTube.

Besides breaking records on this platform, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” also earned him more than $40 million in sales, performances, and appearances. Considering his immediate popularity in the K-pop community in South Korea and overseas, PSY was asked to join YG Entertainment and collaborated with other famous artists in this label.

Prior to PSY’s album release under YG Entertainment, several artists already unveiled their own albums. These include K-pop boy band WINNER, who released their comeback album “Fate Number Four” and was met with mostly positive responses. After their lead vocalist Nam Tae Hyun exited the group due to mental health issues, WINNER is set to move forward as a four-member group on their musical journey.

Aside from the highly anticipated album release by PSY, other K-pop artists under YG Entertainment are also expected to unveil their own, including iKON, Hyukoh, and 2NE1 members CL and Sandara Park.
