The Duggars Update: Jinger Duggar Breaks Away from Parents Jim Bob, Michelle's Fashion Rules
While the Duggars are known for their conservative life choices, one member has received online backlash for turning away from the family’s traditional dress code. Jinger Duggar was recently spotted in Waco, Texas with her other sisters, Jessa Duggar-Seewald and Jana Duggar.
While Jessa and Jana were easily visible dressed up in modest skirts, Jinger Duggar stood out even more as she was decked out in a red jacket paired with moss-green pants. Wearing a pair of pants is a problem in the Duggars’ household as the family strictly follows a set of rules inside and outside of their home, and these include fashion-related policies, according to Yahoo.
The Duggars’ parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, are known to have raised their sons and daughters to dress in accordance with the traditional gender roles. This means wearing pants, including blue jeans, is strictly prohibited for Jinger Duggar and the other females. Even skirts and dresses should cover the girls’ entire thighs to avoid men from being tempted to have sexual desires.
Even Anna Duggar, who is married to the Duggars’ controversial eldest son Josh Duggar, goes to the gym wearing a skirt over her workout outfit. Now, Jinger Duggar’s photo with her siblings have received mixed responses from the online community. Even Jessa, who wore a knee-length skirt and carried her newborn baby Henry Wilberforce, was criticized for a “casual” outfit. “I used to think Jessa dressed the best of all of them but ever since she started having babies there are more and more pictures of her dressing more like Jill does,” one person wrote on the Free Jinger. “And I know after you have kids you want to wear more comfortable clothes (I have two littles so trust me I know) but her style changed dramatically.”
Although Jinger Duggar has been constantly dressing in a modest manner for the past years, the “Counting On” star has already been criticized for breaking the Duggars’ dress code more recently. The reality TV star took a photo with the fans along with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo as she wore a button-down shirt, blue shorts and sneakers. However, Jeremy does not seem too worried over his wife’s fashion choices. The former pro athlete was reportedly doing a sermon in Texas and said: “It is your liberty as to whether you dress modestly with a modest pair of pants, or with a skirt, or with a T-shirt, or with a blouse. It is not your liberty, women, to wear sensual, seductive clothing that is designed to draw the attention of your brothers."
