Merchandise from the upcoming "Call of Duty WWII" game.

After almost a month of speculations, news finally came out that the first person shooter franchise of "Call of Duty" will be going back to its roots. Dubbed "Call of Duty WWII," the new game is all set or its worldwide reveal next week and the fandom of the war-themed title are in a frenzy as of late.

As soon as it came out, alleged spy shots from the game already made rounds online. Albeit the expected World War 2 theme and image quality, players have feasted their eyes of such leaks.

The photos were spotted on Reddit as two of them show soldiers donning a Tommy Gun. This made most Redditors within the forum excited about the upcoming game installment. There are still some, however, who are still skeptical about it and even stressed that the images could be from 2005's "Call of Duty 2." It can be recalled that the first three installments of the game series were all set in WWII though with different storylines.

PlayStationLifeStyle, on the other hand, reported that the U.K. arm of Amazon has posted box art covers of "Call of Duty WWII." Moreover, it was also made known that PlayStation 4 owners will be receiving map packs a month earlier.

Korea Portal has reported early on about the "Call of Duty" franchise returning to its roots through "Call of Duty WWII." There were even concept box art renders that went out and one of the images was spot on with the one being released by its developer Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision.

Meanwhile, fans also noticed an interesting detail within the eyes of the featured soldier from the box art. Looking closely, there were silhouettes of human figures that may mean something in the upcoming game or the artist could have just applied it to keep players muse upon the latest game installment even more.

Additionally, it looks like both companies are all prepped up for the global launch of the game as merchandise like the one shown above were also spotted. "Call of Duty WWII" will be officially announced this Wednesday, April 26. Check out a video about the new game here:
