South Korea Pentaport Rock Festival: Bastille, 5 Seconds of Summer Set to Perform

British indie pop band Bastille is set to perform at the 2017 Pentaport Rock Festival in South Korea. The UK group will be joined by Australian rock band 5 Seconds of Summer.

The two popular bands were among the first of the seven acts to be announced, who are expected to perform at the annual Pentaport Rock Festival in South Korea between August 11 and August 13. The rock music event will be held at the Pentaport Park, also known as the Songdo Moonlight Festival park, in Incheon, as noted by the festival’s official website.

Other artists confirmed to join South Korea’s Pentaport Rock Festival include UK’s Circa Waves, Japan’s Her Name in Blood, and South Korea’s Pia, Vaseline, and The Solutions. Heralded as one of South Korea’s biggest yearly music festivals, the Pentaport Rock Festival will welcome these acts in its 12th year.

A wide range of local musicians and international acts alike have graced the stage of this event, mostly groups from the rock and electronic genres. Internationally recognized names, including Korn, Travis, Muse and The Chemical brothers, already did past performances for South Korea’s Pentaport Rock Festival.

As a headliner for this year’s in South Korea’s Pentaport Rock Festival, Bastille has been known for releasing their well-loved debut album “Bad Blood” in 2013. Their debut was followed by continual commercial success and has gone up the UK and international charts for their hits, including “Pompeii,” “Flaws,” and “Laura Palmer.” In 2014, the group, led by vocalist Dan Smith, bagged the British Breakthrough Act Award at the 2014 Brit Awards.

South Korea’s Pentaport Rock Festival will also be graced by Australia’s 5 Seconds of Summer, who rose to fame after spending several years as a cover band on YouTube. The four-member group gained global stardom while touring with pop boyband One Direction in 2013. Their well-loved hits include “Don’t Stop” and “Good Girls,” among others. The Pentaport Rock Festival in South Korea is yet to announce updates on the lineup of other artists confirmed to perform.
