The "Payday 2" new microtransactions plan is defended by the developer and speaks up for it, according to TechnoBuffalo.

A few weeks ago, Overkill Software suddenly announced that "Payday 2" will have a microtransaction system which lets a player use special drills. These drills will be used to open crates which give out special items, equipment, custom skins, and many more.

However, this angered the gaming community since the developers in the past promised not to have a microtransaction system ever. There was a change after a while where the drills could be acquired through Card Loot Drop rewards.

Since a lot of fans were angry with the developers, representatives of Overkill Software turned to Reddit AMA to address the matter, according to PC Gamer.

"Two and a half years ago, during development of Payday 2 and in the build-up for its release, myself and then Game Director David Goldfarb said that there would be no microtransactions in Payday 2," wrote Producer Almir Listor.

"We want to do everything we can to make Payday 2 as awesome as possible," he continued. "In order to do that, we made the decision to triple the size of the crew. To ensure that we can keep the size of the team, we decided that the best approach was to introduce the Black Market update to the game."

"I think the problem here really is people in positions of power in media and elsewhere making uninformed, clickbait articles about things that matter a lot to a lot of people, instead of doing some serious legwork to get their facts straight," he wrote to criticize other media about misinforming the gaming community.

The "Payday 2" new microtransactions system will still stay for economic reason which is to make the game stay afloat. A player can still purchase the special drills if they do not want to wait, but you can get the drills for free from random drops in the game.
