‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Showrunner Teases 'Olicity' Centric Episode Will Tackle Former Couple’s Break-Up

Conflicts from the past will come to haunt beloved characters of "Arrow" Season 5. Latest spoiler news teased of Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) forced to re-examine the reason behind their failed relationship in upcoming episodes of the CW superhero series.

Many viewers were saddened when Oliver and Felicity broke their engagement and separated from each other in the show's earlier season. However, the underlying issues behind the former couple's break-up will resurface in the upcoming "Arrow" Season 5 episode 19 and episode 20.

Given that the two characters, dubbed the "Olicity" couple, never had the chance to discuss the reason behind their separation, "Arrow" Season 5 will revisit the consequences of their break-up. Showrunner Marc Guggenheim told TVLine that exploring Oliver and Felicity's failed relationship was something that they always wanted to do in the series.

Moreover, some of the episodes in "Arrow" Season 5 contained elements that hinted of an impending confrontation between Oliver and Felicity that will tackle the tech genius' partnership with Helix and their personal feelings for each other, according to Guggenheim. The showrunner added that the upcoming episode 19 will even feature a moment that will trigger the former couple's relationship discussion which will then crossover to episode 20.

Titled "Dangerous Liaisons" and "Underneath," the "Arrow" Season 5 episodes 19 and 20, respectively, will also include a battle between Team Arrow and Team Felicity. However, the upcoming episode 20 will be an "Olicity" centric chapter, according to the showrunner.

Meanwhile, Stephen Amell also made a similar statement and shared that upcoming "Arrow" Season 5 episodes will delve into the real status of Oliver and Felicity's relationship. The actor told Entertainment Weekly that the various situations and unfortunate circumstances that happened between the former couple from the time of their break-up until the show's current season will be fully explained.

"Arrow" Season 5 episode 19 and episode 20 will be released on April 26 and May 3, respectively. Watch the teaser clip for episode 19 below:
