Some Korean Firms Can Gain From Trump Administration Amid U.S Protectionist Measures
Most Korean companies are said to be gaining for the Trump administration even if there are fears before the U.S. protectionist measure after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. However, few firms expect benefits from his administration which are planning to increase investments in terms of infrastructure.
To illustrate, the LS Cable and System confirmed last Sunday that it will start to generate 10.3 kilometers of submarine cables next month in order to cater to the needs of the New York Power Authority or the NYPA. Apart from his, the company is also planning to increase its investment in the U.S. market in order to keep up with the increasing demand in collaboration with the expansionary policies of the U.S. government.
According to an official form the said company, they expect that the policy of the Trump's administration will expand infrastructure in order to boost the demand of power cable in the United States and for it to replace and change the outdated ones. Further, they are also considering expanding their investment in the U.S. market as per Korea Times.
It can be recalled that LS Cable became the first Korean company which offered extra-high voltage cable in the U.S. market. And during the presidential election campaign, Trump promised to allot $1 trillion for the reinforcement of the national infrastructure like bridges, tunnels, and highways.
Meanwhile, the Doosan Group is one of the many firm s which could benefit from this news after suffering liquidity problems during the past years. According to Forbes, this company has been the world's leading small-sized construction equipment maker and as of now, it has been generating perhaps 70 percent of its revenues in the North American market.
With this expectation from the Trump's administration, it has been expected that it will be able to generate more than $17 billion for the Doosan Bobcat. The company as well as its parent company Doosan Infracore will be able to take advantage from this if the election pledges will be realized.
Lastly, the Korea Aerospace Industries or the KAI is also expected to benefit from this as it will gain from its promise to offer its T-50A trainer jet for the use of the U.S Air Force. This will also be made possible with its collaboration with Lockheed Martin.
