Drew Barrymore went through postpartum depression; and is grateful for the experience. It constantly reminded her to stay present in the moment, according to People.

"I didn't have postpartum the first time so I didn't understand it because I was like, I feel great", said Barrymore. "The second time I was like, oh, whoa, I see what people talk about now. I really got under the cloud."

The 40 year old was able to overcome it, and is living a family life that is "perfect and totally imperfect.", cited by ET. She says she especially enjoys watching husband Will play the role of Dad.

Although Barrymore's experience was short lived, it isn't the case for many women.

The public has an idea that postpartum depression is just in the short term, but it certainly is not", a certified nurse midwife at the Mayo Clinic, Julie Lamppa, RN, told Yahoo! Health. "It can happen any time in the first year after a baby is born."

Drew Barrymore is not the only star that suffered from postpartum.

'Nashville' leading lady, Hayden Panettiere entered a treatment facility in early October for post baby blues. Panettiere shared and opened up about her experience on Live! with Kelly and Michael, cited by US Weekly.

In her new book titled Wildflower, Barrymore shares how it is growing up in the famed Barrymore family in Hollywood; to becoming a wife, and mother of two daughters.

"I have wanted to write a book for many years", tells Barrymore to People. "It was a lot to take on, but my daughters and my life so far have inspired me to look back and remember moments in my life and write about them."

Drew Barrymore hopes that readers will find the stories in the book humorous, emotional, and welcoming.

Wildflower will hit shelves on October 27.
