Earlier, TVLine spoke with co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich about the show's episodes. Modrovich revealed that they have four episodes towards the end that are "completely standalone episodes." She added that one of the "Lucifer" episodes will be a flashback to the Devil first coming to Los Angeles.

Co-showrunner Joe Henderson took to Twitter to explain that they designed "Lucifer" Season 2 to be an arc consisting of 18 episodes. But, they got four more.
