Well-known designer Jin Teok started her infatuation for fashion at a young age. Her brother's white shirt made her realized of her desire to pursue designing. Since then, young Jin has decided to study fashion and had been longing to design a white shirt of her own, Korea Joongang Daily reported on Monday.

Being in the fashion industry for 50 years, the South Korean designer has never failed to include white shirts in her collections.

"In womenswear, the white shirt stands apart from the blouse," Jin says. "It elevates one's effeminate beauty."

"One year, I designed a shirt with the neckline dipping low in the back in order to reveal the smallness and bumpiness of one's neck bones and shoulder lines, as I heard many find those features attractive."

She goes on, "Another year, I designed a shirt with the top button starting right below the chest, revealing just a bit of cleavage. Other times, I would lengthen the sleeves, widen the torso, or either add or eliminate decorative elements. To this day, I keep exploring creative variations of white shirt design."

As she celebrates her fifth decade in the industry, an exhibit called "Anthology: Jin Teok, Creation of 50 Years" will feature Jin's designs. The exhibit was featured during the 2015 Seoul Fashion Week which was held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza last October 16-21.

In addition, "Anthology: Jin Teok, Creation of 50 Years" will still be up until November 6 at DDP, wherein 80 of Jin's designs are displayed. The designs are said to be arranged according to 10 themes: earth, night, star, blood, quiet, girl, dawn, air, dew and breeze.

Aside from that, a fashion book that features her designs also centers on the 10 themes. Creative director Seo Young Hee was the one in-charge to manage both the exhibit and the fashion book.

Meanwhile, 82-year-old Jin says she is happy despite going through a tough road.

Jin was among the famous designers who opened their stores in Lotte Fitin a couple of years ago, according to a report by Korea Herald published on May 30, 2013.

Joining her are 180 brands of local designers including popular designers Lee Sang Bong and Shin Jang Kyoung.
