Super Junior’s Heechul Says It’s ‘Very Rude’ To Deny Gay Rumors ‘Strongly’
Super Junior Kim Heechul revealed he doesn't "strongly" deny gay rumors surrounding him because he thinks it's "very rude" to do so. The 33-year-old entertainer has consistently denied he's gay. The rumor never left him even when he insists he likes girls.
Kim Heechul recently sat down for an interview with Yonhap News where he shared his thoughts on the gay rumors that never seemed to die down. He declared again that he's not gay because he likes women. He then shared that he only cares about being respectful to the gay community that he doesn't react "too strongly" against the persistent gay rumors. "But if I deny the rumors too strongly, it could appear very rude to those who are. It's only a difference in preference, and our values are just different," said the artist, according to Koreaboo.
The SM idol then brought up again the incident which he also talked about on air in last month's episode of "Knowing Bros." His fellow Super Junior members Leeteuk and Shindong joined him on that particular episode where they talked about coming across an online post uploaded on the boy band's chat room. The post turned out to be a blind item that talked about a top star described as "appearing on various variety programs," "close to girl groups" but "he doesn't feel that way about them" and more importantly, someone "who has been confused about his gender identity."
Kim Heechul said even he didn't expect it when he saw his name at the end of the post when it finally disclosed the top star's identity. He even confessed to feeling betrayed when his bandmates began asking him if the rumor's true. He also admitted in the recent interview that the blind item affected him so much that he decided to cut his hair short and grow his beard.
