BTS Jungkook Hates Being Called Oppa; Prefers Being Called With This Instead. Find Out What It Is
Although "Oppa" in Korea is meant to give a lot of respect, one K-Pop idol doesn't seem to be happy when he hears his fans saying it. BTS Jungkook recently admitted why he doesn't like the word.
As a 19-year-old singer, BTS Jungkook is obviously young enough to be called "Oppa." Perhaps, this is his reason why dislikes the word despite the respect that goes along with it.
As cited by Koreaboo, a conversation about a fan and Jungkook took place.
Fans: Jungkook-oppa!Jungkook: I'm not your oppa!Fans: But you're oppa to me!Jungkook: You keep calling me oppa!Fans: Jungkookie-oppa! Handsome Oppa!Jungkook: From now on, our ARMYs must bring ID cards here, and I'll check the age.
Jungkook displayed a priceless facial expression as his fans continued to call him "Oppa." Meanwhile, another fan asked him what he would like to be called, instead of oppa and as a response, Jungkook said "baby."
While it sounds like Jungkook has a faint dislike when being referred as oppa, it's not as critical as the controversial Hwayoung scandal.
A few months ago, BOYS24 Hwayoung was under fire for his leaked audio clip. The 21-year-old singer was even removed from the boy group because of his rude comments about his fans. He also talked about how he hates being called oppa by his fans. "I like being called Oppa, not when I hear it from fans, though I fucking hate that," he said.

As for BTS Jungkook, his dislike of the word oppa is somehow harmless. However, fans should still respect it especially if they're a little older than the idol. Afterall, he allows to be called "baby" instead and perhaps, it's a lot better than referring to him as a brother.
