Beauty and the Beast – US Official Final Trailer

With its pre-ticket sales that go over "Captain America: Civil War" and "Finding Dory," there's no doubt that "Beauty and the Beast" is perhaps one of Disney's hottest and greatest films ever made. Although it's mostly true, there are concerns about Disney and why it needs to risk a huge amount totaling to $300 million for a remake.

According to Yahoo! "Beauty and the Beast" is one of Disney classics that fans know by mind and heart, unlike with its other live-action remakes such as "The Jungle Book" and "Cinderella." Earlier. the American company had taken of songs from its films, however, the director of "Dreamgirls" Bill Condon saw there might still be a chance for musical plays to succeed. This comes after the huge success of "Frozen" in 2013.

"They saw with Frozen that there could be a massive international audience for musicals," Director Condon explained at New York Times.

Therefore, the same concept will be added for the Beast, who is played by Dan Stevens, while also adding other elements such as script revisions, new songs, and a contemporary spin that will enhance the characters more deeply.

However, with such modernizations, the filmmakers still needs to know the line between honoring the efforts from the original film and producing a new version that would entice the audience to watch the film. One example is the famous Mrs. Potts who received several criticisms after the new film leaked online. Some fans claimed that the little household vessel has a minimal resemblance to the original one.

"We wanted to keep the spout nose, we really did," Condon explained. "But no matter what we tried, she just looked like a pig."

Nevertheless, despite the struggle of remaking Disney classics, the company's president of production, Sean Bailey said that co-founder Walt Disney himself was also renewing the dear classics in a new method. Basically, it's their way to relive the tales again. So let's expect to meet more remakes apart from "Beauty and the Beast" such as "Dumbo" and "Mulan."
