Actress Kristen Stewart decided to lay her cards on the table after coming out in the open. The "Twilight" star admitted she considered the public as "the enemy" when she dated onscreen partner Robert Pattinson. Now she realized that talking openly to the public about her relationships can help boost other people and so she's doing it.

Kristen Stewart explained in a recent interview with The London Sunday Times that she's taken a new tack when it came to her relationships. The 26-year-old actress clarified that she "wasn't hiding anything" on her scandalized four-year relationship with former boyfriend Robert Pattinson but that she just wanted to keep things private. Stewart hated that her personal affairs "were being turned into a commodity and peddled around the world." In the contrary, she thought to be gay "seemed important and topical" and provided her an opportunity to use her voice. "It was an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves," she said.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Steward is now engaged with singer FKA Twigs while Stewart announced on "Saturday Night Live" that "she's like, so gay dude." They dated for four years from 2008 to 2012 before officially calling it quits in 2013. The actress also admitted to having dated other women in the past. She first talked to Elle about her on-and-off girlfriend digital effects specialist Alicia Cargile in July last year.

Going out in the public with a girlfriend helped her come to terms with her celebrity status. "I was like, 'Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I'm not down with it or I'm ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public," said Stewart, who added that her decision opened up her life and made her "so much happier."
