Gong Minzy Announces Fan Club Name
Singer Gong Minzy sparked a lightbulb and announced the name of her official fan club. The former 2NE1 member revealed the fandom's name Monday as POS. The singer appears to have given the name some thought as she explained the meaning behind it and even unveiled its logo.
"Minzy's official fan club 'POS' has now opened. POS, please continue to love Minzy even more," she captioned her latest Instagram video message. She shed some light in the video as she explained that POS comes from the Greek word that means "light." In the same way, she described her fans to shine on a light on her as well as the kind of "people who listen to the music of light." The POS logo displays the letter O almost shaped as a diamond, flanked between letters P and S and a star directly connected to the O. The letters are strikingly colored in white against a black backdrop that only drives home to the symbolism of light.
Minzy's fans used to belong to the Blackjacks fandom, the official name for fans of the defunct girl group 2NE1. Each of the four members also had their individual fan club names, according to the YGL (YG Ladies). Hers used to be Minjas, (Sandara Park) Dara's Darlings, Park Bom's BOMbshells while their leader CL's was CLassifieds. The youngest 2NE1 member left the baddest K-pop girl group last year to pursue a solo music career with a new management label Music Works.
Minzy collaborated with Jay Park for her much-anticipated upcoming solo album. Fans have been waiting since last year for the album but her agency clarified that they still haven't decided on a comeback date yet. She and Jay Park shared common grounds as Park also used to be a member of boy band 2PM. As a former artist of YG Entertainment, she considered 2NE1 as her "roots" while she joined a new girl group for the variety show "Slam Dunk Unnies Season Two."
