‘Power Rangers’ Movie Reboot Cast Confirms Ludi Lin As Black Ranger; Who's Playing Rita?

The "Power Rangers" movie reboot got another cast revealed on Thursday, Oct. 22. Eurasian actor Ludi Lin has been announced to play as the Black Ranger according to a report from Anime News Network.

This month of October is full or revelations for the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie reboot and its cast. Naomi Scott has been announced to play Pink Ranger while newcomer Dacre Montgomery will lead the all-new lineup as the Red Ranger.

Ludi Lin may sound a new name like Dacre Montgomery as he was also not included in the list of shortlisted actors to fill in the role of Zack Taylor, aka Black Ranger. Despite this, his acting credentials have helped him prove his worth for the role. He graduated at University of British Columbia in 2010 with a degree in Theatre Performance, and he has worked on music videos, commercials, theater, film, TV and Internet according to his resume in IMDB.

Before he joined the cast of "Power Rangers" movie reboot, Lin provided the voice of Wind Magician in a Chinese film titled "Monster Hunt" which was released this year, directed by Raman Hui. He also appeared in Lifetime Network's TV movie "Holiday Spin" as Clayton and in Cartoon Network show "Level Up!"

With two actors revealed for this week, fans would expect for actors of Billy (Blue Ranger) and Trini (Yellow Ranger) soon. Zack Taylor was originally played by Walter Emanuel Jones, but was replaced by Johnny Yong Bosch in the middle of the show's second season.

And who would ever forget the evil Rita Repulsa? It has been speculated that the actress for the primary villainess has already been found by Lionsgate and will be announced soon, according to fans.

The character is described to be a "huntress with a soldier's confidence." While initial rumors say that an established actress has filled the role, the crew still remains strong on their decision to find for unknown actors to fill remaining roles according to Cinema Blend.

The film will premiere on Jan, 13, 2017 after it was re-scheduled from the original July 2016 release.
