It can be recalled that after the release of "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" last year, there were a hundred memes mocking Ben Affleck's misery over the negative reviews of the movie. There were even rumors that for the next Batman film to be released to theaters, he would be directing it already. However, amidst all these rumors and memes regarding Ben Affleck's portrayal as Batman in the film, reports have claimed that the actor has already retired from reprising his role in future films. This has then been considered as one of a great disaster to Warner Bros., but also considered to be a good kind of disaster at some point.
It has been clear to many of the critics and people behind production that after the negative critical reception of "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" that something needed to change. It has also been credited to have been under financial underperformance and thus, they needed to up their game against their greatest rival, Marvel Studios. As for Affleck's desire to retire from his crucial role, it has been reported that Affleck does indeed want to be out of the whole production: both in front and behind the cameras.
"I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman," said John Campea, host of "Collider Movie Talk." Of course, not Affleck or anyone from his team has neither confirmed nor denied the issue. Nevertheless, it is still safe to say that it might still just be rumors. However, the fans of the actor will have to wait for an official statement to be released by the actor about it.
