Ji Sung Starrer ‘Defendant’ Continue Ratings Climb; Beats ‘Hwarang,’ ‘Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People’

Ji Sung's suspense legal drama "Defendant" continues to register double-digit TV ratings given its intriguing storyline and talented cast members. Recently, the SBS drama posted its highest viewership share to date.

"Defendant" episode 7 broke through the 20 percent viewership level across the South Korean nation. Aired on Feb. 13, Monday, the said episode reached nationwide TV ratings of 20.9 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Soompi.

The TV ratings represented a 2.3 percent increase from the SBS series' previous episode. Moreover, "Defendant" episode 7 also registered viewership shares of 22.4 percent across the Seoul metropolitan area.

"Defendant" tells the story of prosecutor Jung Woo (Ji) who found himself on death row after being accused of killing his wife. Despite having no memory of the said incident, the said character will try to clear his name and find out who really murdered his family.

Meanwhile, the historical series "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People" saw a slight dip in TV ratings. From a previous high of 12.3 percent, the MBC drama's latest episode posted ratings of 10.7 percent.

Viewership shares of the KBS drama "Hwarang" rose to 8.2 percent with its episode 17. Already on its penultimate broadcast week, the series' TV ratings across Seoul also increased to 8.6 percent.

In other news, Ji is known as one of the talented actors in the South Korean entertainment industry. Some of his earlier drama projects include "All In," "Save the Last Dance For Me," "Protect the Boss," as well as "Kill Me, Heal Me" where critics praised his portrayal of a man with multiple personalities.

Apart from Ji's impressive acting credentials, the actor is also known as a loving and devoted husband to his wife, actress Lee Bo Young. In a recent "Man Running After Charts" broadcast, he was even named as one of the industry's lovable married actors, All Kpop reported.

Ji's drama "Defendant" airs every Monday and Tuesday on SBS.
