'Shameless' Season 8: Emmy Rossum’s Salary Increase Shoots Up Production Costs, Rossum & William Macy Get Equal Pay, Series Filming May 2017
"Shameless" Season 8 has finally been announced to hit the screens in Fall of 2017 after the Showtime Networks, Incorporated had closed the deal for Emmy Rossum's pay raise. The star got the "equal pay" position with co-star William H. Macy who is being paid higher than the actress. With the salary increase, the series, which is SNI's highest rated show, will definitely have higher production costs compared to the last season.
In a report by Gamenguide, "Shameless" Season 8 almost did not get a renewal for another season as Emmy Rossum and the networks were in a standoff on the salary negotiation. Rossum who is playing the role of Fiona Gallagher, the daughter of the alcoholic Frank (William H. Macy) shamelessly expressed her dissatisfaction of getting a lower pay than Macy. To strengthen her position, she cited Robin Wright of "House of Cards" salary negotiation success.
"Shameless" Season 8 will start production in May 2017 to catch up with its targeted premiere in Fall of 2017, according to Spoilertv. No less than the President and CEO of SNI, David Nevins made the announcement for the reorder of the series for an eight instalment. However, there was no disclosure on how much Rossum will get per episode.
Looking back, Season 7, the series wrapped up for its last episode finale last Sunday, December 11. At that time, the stars including Rossum herself were not sure of the series' renewal. Even, the show producers were mum on the future of the "Gallagher" family.
With the closed deal, "Shameless" Season 8 will be back in 2017 with more comedic entertainment to hit the viewers' screens. With that in mind, more elemental things are expected to occur for the latter episodes of the segment. For updates and spoilers of the series, stay stay tuned to Korea Portal.
