CL’s MTBD’s Quran verse performance got her in trouble again.

CL's MTBD Quran verse performance got her in trouble for the second time around.

It was 2014 when 2NE1 released its second full-length album 'CRUSH' along with CL's solo track 'MTBD' (Mental Breakdown). But the solo track caught the attention of the many Muslim listeners as they pointed out that one portion of the background music seems to be reading a verse from the Quran. Muslims found CL's MTBD's Quran verse usage extremely offensive as the Quran is the central text of Islam and it should not be made light of by being put in a song or used for entertainment purposes of any form. The track became very controversial that the YG Entertainment decided to edit out that part of the song.

The Korea Muslim Federation had raised a formal complaint against CL's MTBD's Quran verse usage saying that "Muslims find this song to be a severe insult and are demanding for the agency to take action including quickly removing it or editing the entire song, and apologizing to Muslims. In the case that they don't comply to the demand, we will take action with the Muslims around the world who find this to be a serious matter." That's how the agency decided to edit out that controversial part from the track.

Two years after, CL's MTBD's Quran verse controversy haunted her again. The unedited track somehow made its way to CL's performance in Los Angeles last November 4, sparking off yet another controversy. Some fans were disappointed that she performed that controversial track again. They started to demand an explanation and an apology from the singer. They flooded her Instagram account with comments demanding an apology and even started using hashtags to make their request trend on social media.

CL has offered no explanation or apology yet as of this moment.
