The Nintendo NX release date is rumored to be as early as 2016. "Industry-leading chips" will be used for the console, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The Nintendo NX console is reported to have the latest hardware used, according to sources. It is to make the new console to compete with the new generation consoles which are the PS4 and the Xbox One. This move is also for getting back the confidence of the third-party developers, according to IGN.

The NX will be a great improvement from the 3DS and the Wii U combined, according to Yibada. The components will certainly be more powerful than before. There might be talks coming with AMD for this to happen.

"People familiar with the matter" claims that the kit has been sent out to third parties. This move is to aid in the modification of the existing games for this new platform, according to sources. Nintendo also has a new web portal which is for developers that want to sign up, according to International Business Times.

Nintendo was actually planning to reach out to more developers about the NX this month, according to Kotaku.

Last March, it was revealed by Nintendo the "dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept" during an announcement of creating official Nintendo smartphone games. The unveiling of the new console proves that the move into smartphone games was not a sign of lost passion or vision for dedicated game systems, according to sources.

The news on the developer kits being shared by Nintendo persist that the Nintendo NX release date will be on 2016, according to sources. Nintendo is still remaining quiet on the details for now in case the other console developers will take its ideas.

In the future, Nintendo might merge development for its handheld and console lines, even though traditionally, development was split between the two, according to sources.
