Park So Dam on Plastic Surgery and Being 'Handsome Pretty': No One Else Can Look Like Me
In a recent interview, "Cinderella and Four Knights" lead actress Park So Dam discussed being an actress with monolids and also talked about plastic surgery.
Allkpop shared some of the details of the interview. It reported that when the young actress was asked about whether she has any inhibitions about her looks, the actress replied, "I think my charm is having an appearance that is different from everyone else. I never thought about plastic surgery. I am not saying I am 100% satisfied because my face is pretty but I really like that I have a face that no one can mimic through surgery. I believe that an actor needs a charm that is unique to him or her. Because no one else can look like me, I believe that is an advantage to me."
She further explained, "If there are actresses who are pretty like dolls, shouldn't there also be people with faces like mine? Because what actors can do are so different. There have to be people with this charm and that charm to make it fun for others to watch. Of course, I also thought at first that people with strong features came out better on camera.
"Because I wanted to act, I started acting, but I thought that even if I died, I would not be able to stand before a camera. Even until I graduated, I did not think I would be able to take part in filming even one part of a short film, but when I became 21, I kept getting contacted by image institutions. That's when I started becoming confident about my face."
In a separate interview, Park So Dam also explained being called "handsome pretty." She said, "I am the type to set the mood when I am with a group of friends, so I think my energetic personality earned me that label. I might be feeling really down but I am able to raise my energy fast. I cannot do anything when I am feeling under the weather. I have to keep myself busy with work that gives me joy."
