‘Age of Shadows’ to Premiere in International Screens

"The Age of Shadows" will premiere in over 40 North American and Canadian cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Vancouver and Toronto on Sept. 23.

The film locally distributed by CJ Entertainment America stars Gong Yoo, Song Kang-ho and Ha Ji-min. Gong plays the role of a leader while Han is a member of the group "Uiyeoldan." Fans of Gong expects more from the actor after his outstanding performance in the international hit "Train to Busan."

Lead actor Song acts as Lee Jung-Chool, a Japanese police officer born in Korea who serves as a double agent. Song works for Japan and "Uiyeoldan" which is a group of Korean resistance fighters formed during ruling of Japan over Korea. The character was called a traitor by former countrymen.

The story took place during the 1920s in Shanghai and Seoul.

"The Age of Shadows" directed and written by Kim Jee-woon has already garnered over 2 million views since it was released in Sept. 14, Yonhap News reported. Director Kim was recognized for his past works including "A Tale of Two Sisters" in 2003 and "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" in 2008.

The box office hit has received invitations from several international film festivals. It has been presented for the Academy Awards as well.

The U.S. Entertainment Weekly described the South Korean movie as a "rousing gem" having no "ounce of fat."

Actors Han and Kim graced the screening of the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival. They will also represent the casts on the upcoming preview event in New York on Sept. 20 to 21.

Kim will also fly to Los Angeles for a local screening.

"The Age of Shadows" have already captivated the viewers of Venice International Film Festival, Drama Fever reported.
